The maps, borders and territories shown on GenericMaps are simplified for educational purposes only and do not depict the actual, precise, or officially recognized international boundaries of any country or region. Boundaries can be disputed, redrawn, or interpreted differently across sources. Please consult official government or cartographic authorities for authoritative boundary information.

Data sources

World country polygons: Natural Earth (public domain) via react-globe.gl datasets.
Country facts (capital, flag, region, coordinates): REST Countries derived dataset (mledoze/countries).
India state/UT polygons: community GeoJSON (udit-001/india-maps-data) reflecting the post-2019 Government of India administrative structure (28 states + 8 UTs, including separate Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh).
Uruguay (19 departments), Brazil (26 states + Federal District) and United States (50 states + DC) polygons: geoBoundaries.org open administrative boundary dataset (ODbL licensed, sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors).
State/department/capital names for Uruguay, Brazil and the United States are maintained by us directly from standard reference sources, independent of any typos in third-party boundary files.

Note on boundaries

India’s external boundaries as depicted here follow the Government of India’s official administrative structure. Community-derived datasets may vary in edge cases; for classroom use we recommend consulting Survey of India for the authoritative maps. For Uruguay, Brazil and the United States, boundaries come from the open-source geoBoundaries project and are intended for educational use, not for resolving any territorial disputes.
